The “Smart Tower” Project – BIDV Tower

Located on Tran Quang Khai Street in Hoan Kiem District, BIDV Tower—developed by BIDV Vietnam and BloomHill Singapore—enjoys a prime position in the very heart of Hanoi’s capital, surrounded by central government offices, leading banks, international organizations, and commercial services. From this location, users can easily access the main North–South route as well as key roads leading to Hai Phong, Ha Long, and the western and southern areas of the city.

The BIDV Tower office building rises 25 stories and features a striking exterior with double-layer 24 mm vacuum-insulated glass walls that provide thermal insulation and reduce air-conditioning energy costs. Built to the standards of a “Smart Tower,” BIDV Tower is fully equipped with advanced and modern systems to ensure security, energy efficiency, and fire safety in line with international Grade A standards. Some of the advanced systems installed in the building include:

Central water-cooled air-conditioning system.

Backup power supply: 100% capacity.

Building management: BMS technical system.

Fire protection system: Meets high standards.

Telecommunications system: Private automatic branch exchange (PABX).

Security system: 24/7 surveillance camera system ensuring absolute security.

And notably, the system of 12 elevators supplied by our company. Among them, the building is equipped with 9 high-speed NexWay and NexWay-S elevators, with a maximum speed of up to 210 meters per minute. All elevators installed in BIDV Tower are fully imported as complete units from Mitsubishi Electric’s manufacturing plant in Japan and are monitored by the Meleye system, as well as equipped with a wide range of features to ensure the key criteria of Safety, Comfort, and Efficiency."

The first safety feature that any premium office high-rise should install is the ability to ensure that elevators continue to operate safely in the event of external incidents. At BIDV Tower, the developer decided to implement the FER (Fire Emergency Return) function so that in the event of a fire, the elevators will automatically evacuate passengers in the car to a pre-designated safe floor. Secondly, the combination of SR-2 BEAMS (Safety Ray – 2 Beams) and SDE-2 SIDES (Safety Door Edge – 2 Sides) enables the system to detect objects while the doors are closing and immediately reopen them, ensuring safety and preventing collisions. To ensure safe operation and long-term durability, the OLHL (Overload Holding Stop Light) feature is installed so that an alarm and indicator light will activate when the elevator is overloaded; at that time, the doors remain open and the elevator will not move until the load returns to within the allowable limit.

With the aim of enhancing efficiency and professionalism, several additional features are also installed, such as the AANG (Voice Guidance System) to provide passengers with information related to the elevator, including the current floor and direction of travel. Inside the car, the ITP (Inter-communication System) allows passengers to contact building staff. In addition, to reduce waiting and travel time for passengers, elevators equipped with the MFP (Main Floor Parking) function will, when idle, always return to and wait at the main lobby to receive passengers. Finally, the Hall Indicator Light illuminates to signal when an elevator arrives, enabling passengers to easily identify the appropriate car for their destination.
